Sustainability and Legionella prevention:
A look ahead to the ESGLI Meeting 2024 in Dresden

On October 23-24, 2024, the 8th ESGLI Meeting will take place in Dresden, organized by the ESCMID Study Group for Legionella Infections (ESGLI). This annual conference provides a platform for the latest developments in research, diagnostics, and control of Legionella and the infections they cause. The venue, Dresden, is particularly symbolic as it hosts the German Consiliary Laboratory for Legionella.

This year, I have the honor of participating in a panel discussion alongside two world-renowned experts, Dr. Susanne Surman-Lee and Prof. Martin Exner. Our topic: "Sustainability of Control Measures."

The issue of sustainability in the prevention and control of Legionella contamination is more relevant than ever. Dutyholders face numerous challenges: How much energy is required to maintain hot water storage at 60°C continuously? How can the required regular flushing of drinking water systems be done sustainably? Which control measures align more or less with sustainability goals?

I warmly invite you to join us in Dresden and discuss these critical questions together.

We look forward to your active participation!
