It is all about water. Once again, the ISH, the world’s largest trade fair for sanitation, heating, and climate technology, impresses with innovative materials, technologies, and concepts for water, heat, and air. Sustainability and digitalization were once again in the spotlight—two essential topics for our future.
But, what about hygiene?
Energy efficiency and sustainable processes are undoubtedly necessary. But is hygienic safety an integral part of these strategies? Here are some key questions from my discussions at the fair:
- Water-saving technologies vs. necessary water consumption – What is the right balance to prevent stagnation?
- Heat recovery from hot water – How can we ensure that cold water remains below 25°C, ideally below 20°C?
- Wet testing in drinking water installations – How is the quality of the water used guaranteed? Is chemical treatment sufficient?
- Hygienic requirements for faucets and washbasins in clinical settings – How can infection risks be minimized?
👉 My conclusion: Hygiene + Sustainability + Design must go hand in hand in every innovation project!
